The g33k show interviews Greg Broadmore from Weta Workshop

Dr Grordbort's Scantily Cad MinxI was lucky to interview Greg Broadmore from Weta Workshop last year, just before his 'Dr Grordbort's Contrapulatronic Dingus Directory' was published in January 2008 by Dark Horse Comics. Greg is the guy who designed the totally steam-punktastic Rayguns as seen in WIRED, made real by Weta Originals and lusted after by geeks worldwide. Featuring artwork from Greg Broadmore and animation by Chelfyn Baxter, this is the first interview in a series of three where Greg talks about The Rayguns.

Surfs Up with Cardboard

Popular Science reports on the Shredder, a surfboard made by a 3D designer out of the last material you'd expect to find off-shore, Cardboard:

"When it came time to replace his old surfboard, Mike Sheldrake decided to build his own. But the former Web programmer didn’t have the sculpting skills to carve one out of foam the way professional builders do. So he used 3-D modeling software to design a snap-together deck that’s as sturdy as a conventional model and performs just as well, made from the cheapest material he could find: cardboard."

Watch a video of the Shredder being assembled. Warning: has weird soundtrack that sounds like the tail end of a French absinthe party. Picture & Video thanks to Neublack.com
